FAQ
Have a question before your appointment? You’re in the right place. Here are a few things that are helpful to know before visiting ORA Skin Studio.
-
Start with our First Time Client Custom Facial. Your appointment includes a consultation and skin assessment so we can understand your concerns, current routine, and goals before customizing your treatment.
You don’t need to know exactly what your skin needs before coming in. That’s what we’re here for.
-
Come as you are. Makeup is completely fine. If possible, bring a list or photos of the skincare products and prescriptions you currently use.
-
Yes. We recommend pausing retinol, tretinoin, exfoliating acids, and other strong active products for several days before your appointment.
If you’re using prescription acne medication or any prescription topical, please let us know before your treatment. Certain medications can make the skin more sensitive or affect which treatments are safe and appropriate for you.
If you’re unsure about a product or medication, reach out before your appointment and we’ll guide you.
-
If acne is your main concern and you’re ready for a more structured approach, Acne Bootcamp is the best place to start. It allows us to look beyond a single facial and build a plan around your skin, home care, and progress over time.
If you experience occasional breakouts or have several skin concerns, start with the First Time Client Custom Facial.
-
Yes. Extractions are performed when appropriate for your skin and are always done carefully and intentionally.
Not every pore needs to be extracted, and we won’t overwork the skin just for the sake of getting everything out in one appointment.
-
Yes. Every treatment is adjusted to what your skin can tolerate that day.
If your barrier is compromised, we may focus on calming, hydrating, and supporting the skin rather than exfoliation or more corrective treatments. More aggressive doesn’t always mean better.
-
Absolutely. We offer a dedicated Pregnancy Facial on our treatment menu using pregnancy safe products and appropriate treatment modifications.
If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, let us know when booking so we can make sure your treatment is appropriate for you.
-
Yes. Home care plays an important role in your results, but we’ll never recommend products simply for the sake of adding more to your routine.
Our goal is to simplify your skincare and recommend what actually makes sense for your skin, goals, and budget.
-
There’s no one size fits all schedule. How often you should come in depends on your skin, your goals, and the type of treatments we’re working with.
After your appointment, we’ll recommend a treatment schedule that makes sense for your skin.
-
Occasional breakouts can happen, especially if your skin is already congested, but significant purging isn’t something you should automatically expect after every facial.
We choose treatments carefully to avoid unnecessary irritation and inflammation.
-
Ideally, give your skin the rest of the day without makeup when possible. If you need to wear makeup, we’ll let you know if there are any specific restrictions based on the treatment you received.
-
If it’s your first treatment with us, we recommend coming in at least 1 to 2 weeks before a major event rather than trying something new right before it.
Once we know your skin and how it responds to treatments, we can help you plan the best timing for your event.
-
That depends on the treatment. Some facials have little to no downtime, while more corrective treatments may cause temporary redness, dryness, or light flaking.
We’ll walk you through exactly what to expect and how to care for your skin at home before you leave.
-
